Fifth-Grade Colonial Days

The fifth graders at Foothills Elementary had a fun time celebrating Colonial Days!  Students were able to make paper, "churn" their own butter, clean the seeds out of cotton, practice weaving and make cards using screen printing!

The "Pumpkin Express" Makes a Stop at Foothills Elementary

I know you’ve heard of the Polar Express, but have you ever heard of the “Pumpkin Express”?  Students and faculty at Foothills Elementary in Salem, Utah have.  Jake Harward of Harward Farms in Springville, Utah donated over 750 pumpkins to Foothills Elementary.  Mr. Harward arrived in the “Pumpkin Express” on October 18, 2012 and personally handed every student and teacher in the school a pumpkin.  Students have enjoyed measuring, weighing, comparing, decorating, and even interviewing their pumpkins.   Foothills Elementary would like to thank Mr.

Red Ribbon Week

Foothills Falcons celebrated Red Ribbon Week October 8th -10th by participating in many activities.  On Monday they tied red ribbons outside the school to show the community that Foothills Elementary is a drug free school.  Students also signed a poster pledging to be drug free.

Breaking News! New Student Council

Have you heard the news? Foothills Elementary now has a student council. Ten, sixth-grade students were chosen to represent the school:  Hailey Cuff, Kellen Bybee, Oakley Palfreyman, Nik Houtz, Brayden Biesinger, Ty Callister, Sawyer Radke, Jace Hancock, Jennah Lee, Katie Pray.  During an assembly they introduced themselves and expressed to the student body how they were going to make at difference at school. Miss Tierney Diamond is their adviser and will be attending a leadership conference at BYU with the students on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Go Falcons!

Pajama Day

Popcorn With the Principal

Students at Foothills Elementary are participating in a monthly reading program.  Students are keeping track of how many minutes they read each week.  At the end of the week they are given a slip of paper to put in a container for a monthly drawing.  One student from each class was chosen to watch a movie and eat popcorn with the principal.  Congratulations and remember it "Pays to read!"

Parents and Pastries

What is a great way to start the day?  Students at Foothills Elementary would say, “Reading, of course!”  On Tuesday, October 02, 2012 students brought their parents to school to celebrate the annual “Parents and Pastries”.  Students enjoyed reading books and eating doughnuts with their parents.

Johnny Appleseed Day

Second-grade students at Foothills Elementary celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day on Friday, September 21.  Fun activities included making pots for our heads, cooking yummy applesauce, apple puzzle art, and sequencing the life cycle of an apple.
