Rachel Trotter is a fourth-grade student at Foothills Elementary. She read a book about Ruby Bridges and decided she wanted to learn more about Ruby. Rachel discovered that Ruby Bridges had started a foundation and wanted to donate some money to the foundation. Rachel wrote a letter to Ruby Bridges letting her know how much she liked her story and wanted to help the foundation by sending $50. A couple of months later Rachel received a package in the mail. Ruby Bridges had sent Rachel a package that contained a letter and a book.

Museum on the Move

Fourth Grade students at Foothills Elementary enjoyed a visit from The Natural History Museum’s outreach program Museum on the Move.  Museum on the Move (MoM) is an inquiry-based program that gives 4th grade students the opportunity to become “scientists” as they sample specimens. This year the students studied snakes, lizards, mammals, and insect specimens to determine what type of food the animals eat (i.e. herbivores, carnivores, omnivores).
