Students and faculty at Foothills Elementary enjoyed an assembly from the Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT). The RDT is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Students learned how to creatively move through space using different elements of dance. Students also enjoyed integrating movement with learning.
Several students were chosen to decorate Valentine cookies with the principal. They were chosen from a drawing. All students that read the required mintues for the month were placed in a drawing. Congratulations and keep reading!
Mrs. Elliott’s class has loved learning about ancient China. They spent time learning about the archeological find of the Terracotta Army created by the first Chinese emperor for whom China was named, Qin (pronounced Chin) in the year 246 BCE. Then, on January 31st, the students celebrated Lunar New Year by performing a lion dance in all the classrooms of the school.

Last week the students at Foothills Elementary participated in a Fit Falcon Week. This activity was done to help the children focus on other activities besides watching TV and playing with other electronics. They were given several activities such as walk/running, jumping jacks, sit-ups, push-ups, and air squats to do each night at home, and repeats of these at school. They were also given some extra ones to do like try a veggie that you had never tried before, encouraging them to eat healthy foods.
We had another successful "It Pays to Read" assembly. Many students won prizes, books, and money. Great job and keep reading!

The students and faculty enjoyed the watching men do tricks and stunts on their bikes. They talked about the importance of bike safety and to ALWAYS wear a helmet.

Several students at Foothills had the opportunity to decorate a gingerbread house with the Mrs. Huntsman. Students who read the required minutes during the month were given a ticket to place in a drawing. One student from each class was chosen from the drawing to decorate a gingerbread house. Their houses were on display for several days in the office for others to enjoy before taking them home.
